2021 $200 Gold - Relics of New France 2-coin set Description:
Two coins, one extraordinary collecting experince. The Relics of New France: Louis XIV 30 Deniers 2-coin set comes packaged with an original Louis XIV 30-denier piece sealed in a coin slab and the 2021 $200 pure gold tribute collector's coin.
The Royal Canadian Mint is paying tribute to the past and the relic that inspired it with a modern "mousquetaire".
Minted from 1709 to 1713, the 30-denier coin of the French regime was dubbed as the "mousquetaire" because of the cross. It resembled the emblem of the king's musketeers. The Royal Canadian Mint has taken that same cross and made it new again on this prestigious 99.99% pure gold collector's item.
The 2021 Relics of New France gold coin was struck in a prestine proof finish. The coins reverse is a faithful reproduction of the 18th century design. What makes this set more special is that each of these 2021 coins is accompanied by a genuine piece of history.

Bank of Canada Museum helped ensure this reproduction of a centuries-old design is as historically accurate as possible. It features the original "AA" (Metz) mint mark and the unilingual inscription stating the coin's original face value.
Modern engraving techniques mimic the effect of time on the 18th century design without interfering with the beautiful proof finish.
