2022 Platinum American Eagle Proof 70 Coin

History of the coin:
This is the second coin of the new Platinum series, the First Amendment to the United States Constitution featuring newly designed one-ounce 99.95 percent platinum proof coins. This five-year series (2021-2025) will reflect the five freedoms in the First Amendment —“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

The 2022 Platinum American Eagle coin is the second coin in the series and stands for Freedom of Speech. The obverse design depicts a branch from a juvenile oak tree framed with the inscription “WITH FREEDOM OF SPEECH LIBERTY BLOSSOMS.” It was designed by Artistic Infusion Program Designer Donna Weaver and sculpted by United States Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna. The common reverse design for this series depicts an eagle in flight, an olive branch in its talons.
