The First Spouse coins from the U.S. Mint have a face value of $10 and contain 1/2 oz of pure 24 karat gold, making the metal value alone worth quite a bit on the bullion market. Since very few of the coins have been certified in perfect MS70 condition by NGC, demand has been rising and they could prove to be the type of "sleeper coins" that expert investors seek out.

Elizabeth Truman was the wife of President Harry S. Truman and the first lady of the United States from 1945 to 1953. As First Lady she served as Honorary Chairman of the American Red Cross, Honorary President of the Girl Scouts, and Honorary President of the Washington Animal Rescue League.  Mrs. Truman passed away October 18, 1982, at age 97, in Independence Missouri.

  • Obverse: Features Elizabeth Truman
  • Reverse: features a locomotive wheel moving along railroad tracks, representing Mrs. Truman's support for her husband on his 1948 whistle stop campaign trip for re-election as president.
