President Theodore Roosevelt wanted to refresh the gold coin design in America so he turned to Augustus Saint-Gaudens to get the job done. The obverse features Lady Liberty surrounded by stars, which represent each state in the U.S. In 1907, when the coin was first released, there was only 46 stars. In 1912, two more were added with the addition of New Mexico and Arizona to the Union. The reverse features a bald eagle flying over a rising sun. The design also varies slightly here depending on the year of minting. Coins struck in 1907-1908 feature no motto along the rim, while all other years have the words "In God We Trust"
Extremely Fine (XF) condition has light wear over the high points only. There may be some traces of mint luster. These coins are extremely rare due to the recollection effort by the federal government in 1933
