1911 $2.50 Indian Gold Quarter Eagle MS67

The 1911 $2.50 Indian Gold Quarter Eagle represents one of the most distinctive designs in American coinage. Introduced in 1908, the series was designed by renowned sculptor Bela Lyon Pratt, a student of Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Unlike traditional U.S. coins, the Indian Quarter Eagle features an innovative incuse design, with the portrait and inscriptions recessed below the coin's surface rather than raised, making it one of the most unique coins ever produced by the United States Mint.

Struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 90% gold and weighing 4.18 grams, the coin contains 0.1209 troy ounces of pure gold. The obverse depicts a Native American chief wearing a full feathered headdress, while the reverse features a standing bald eagle perched on a bundle of arrows entwined with an olive branch, symbolizing both military strength and peace.

Certified MS67 by NGC, this coin exhibits exceptional luster, sharply defined details, and remarkably well-preserved surfaces. With an NGC population of only 16, examples at this grade are seldom encountered, making this a premium representative of the Indian Head Quarter Eagle series.
