2026 Best of the Mint 1907 Saint-Gaudens High Relief $20 Gold Coin and Silver Medal Set, NGC SP70, Ed Moy Signed

The 1907 Saint-Gaudens High Relief $20 Gold Coin and Silver Medal Set is the fifth and final release in the United States Mint's Best of the Mint series, issued for the 250th anniversary of American independence. To build the series, the Mint identified 21 historic coins spanning its history from 1792 forward, then narrowed the field to five through public input and expert recommendation. The 1907 Saint-Gaudens High Relief Double Eagle closes the set, and its design has historically drawn strong and consistent interest among buyers of American gold.

The Gold Coin

Struck at West Point in one full troy ounce of 99.99% fine gold, the $20 coin carries Augustus Saint-Gaudens' original High Relief design. The obverse shows Liberty striding forward with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left, sunrays behind her and the Capitol in the distance, inscribed "LIBERTY" and "MCMVII." A Liberty Bell privy mark bearing the numeral "250" marks the semiquincentennial. The reverse depicts an eagle soaring left across the rays of the rising sun, inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "TWENTY DOLLARS." In keeping with the 1907 original, "E PLURIBUS UNUM" appears in raised lettering on the edge.

The Silver Companion Medal

Struck at Philadelphia in one troy ounce of 99.9% fine silver, the companion medal reimagines elements of the historic coin. The obverse presents a new view of Saint-Gaudens' Liberty carrying a torch and olive branch, with 13 stars representing the original colonies, inscribed "LIBERTY" and "MMXXVI." The reverse renders the eagle's wings as an American flag rising above the sun, inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA."

Certification and Signature

Each piece has been certified NGC SP70, the highest grade NGC assigns, indicating no post-production imperfections at 5x magnification. Both holders carry the signature of Edmund C. Moy, who served as the 38th Director of the United States Mint from 2006 to 2011. Director-signed labels are produced in limited quantities relative to standard certified populations, and signed examples of major Mint releases have historically commanded premiums over their unsigned counterparts.

Availability

The Mint has set a mintage limit of 15,000 for this release, the lowest of the five Best of the Mint sets, with an initial household order limit of one set. Certified SP70 examples represent a subset of that already limited figure.
