1872-CC $10 Liberty Gold Eagle VF30

The 1872-CC $10 Liberty Gold Eagle was struck at the Carson City Mint, one of the most iconic branch mints in United States history. Designed by Christian Gobrecht, the Liberty Head Eagle series was produced from 1838 through 1907, with Carson City issues among the most desirable due to their low mintages and association with the American West.

Struck in 90% gold, the coin weighs 16.72 grams and contains 0.4838 troy ounces of pure gold. The 1872-CC issue had a mintage of just 4,600 coins, making it one of the scarcer Carson City Eagles.

Certified VF30 by PCGS, this coin displays moderate, even wear while retaining strong design details across both sides. With a PCGS population of only 5, it represents an exceptionally scarce certified example of this historic Carson City gold issue.

The obverse features Liberty wearing a coronet inscribed "LIBERTY," surrounded by thirteen stars with the date below. The reverse displays the classic heraldic eagle with shield, holding an olive branch and arrows, with the distinctive "CC" mint mark beneath the eagle identifying its Carson City origin.
