Description:

History of the Coin:
The Gold Bullion Act of 1985 authorized the U.S. Mint to begin producing the Gold American Eagle. Minted in four different weights and using one of the most iconic designs in numismatics’ history, the Gold American Eagle quickly gained in popularity. The United States government guarantees the weight and purity of each coin.

Lady Liberty as envisioned by Augustus Saint-Gaudens graces the obverse of the coin. She is personified with flowing hair, confidently striding forward with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. Saint-Gaudens’ design first appeared on American coinage in 1907 after President Roosevelt commissioned the redesign of American coins to be more reminiscent of the Romans.

The 2021 1/4 oz. bears a striking resemblance to the coin minted in 1907. Lady Liberty is striding with her right foot in front, a flowing dress blowing as she confidently hoists a torch in her right hand and an olive branch representing peace in her left.

The reverse of the coin makes use of one of the most patriotic symbols of the United States, the bald eagle. A male bald eagle has his wings spread wide as a returns to the nest he shares with a female bald eagle and their eaglet. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is prominently displayed above the head of the male eagle while IN GOD WE TRUST can be seen just to the right of the female bald eagle.

Proof coins are struck at least twice at the U.S. Mint resulting in almost mirror-like background. This finish is what sets proof coins apart from bullion coins. Proof 70 coins are the pinnacle of investment grade coins and are deemed to be in perfect, pristine condition. These beautiful coins will remain that way because each coin is meticulously secured in a hard plastic slab that will keep your investment safe from handling for generations to come.
