Description:

History:
In 1985, the U.S. government guaranteed and authorized the Bullion Coin Act. In 1986, the Gold American Eagles were first produced and quickly became well-known among investors and collectors. Each year since 1988, the Gold Eagle is minted in four different weights and denominations: 1 oz ($50 face value), 1/2 oz ($25), 1/4 oz ($10), and 1/10 oz ($5).

The design for the obverse came from the renowned sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens and his interpretation of Lady Liberty. The design features Lady Liberty walking forward holding a torch in her right hand. Her left hand is holding an olive branch, a symbol of peace.

The reverse of the Gold American Eagle was designed by Miley Busiek and features a male bald eagle with his wings spread returning to the nest he shares with a female bald eagle and their eaglet. The words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA are along the top above the eagle and the words IN GOD WE TRUST are to the right of the female eagle.

Each year the mint produces a bullion and proof version of the Gold Eagles. The proof coins are struck multiple times to give it a mirror-like finish. Every 2020 Gold American Eagle Proof 70 coin has been submitted to NGC for grading and received a perfect Proof 70 meaning there are no post-production imperfections at 5x magnification.

Exclusive to U.S. Gold Bureau, your 2020 Gold American Eagle Proof 70 4-coin set will also have the NGC label hand-signed by the former U.S. Mint 38th Director, Ed Moy.  Ed Moy Signature Series will be highly sought after by investors and collectors.
