The 2010 Mary Todd Lincoln First Spouse gold coin was struck at the West Point Mint.

In addition to the “W” mint mark, the obverse of the Mary Todd Lincoln First Spouse Gold Coin includes a portrait designed and sculpted by Phebe Hemphill of a stoic Mrs. Lincoln wearing flowers in her hair and an elegant necklace and earrings. Additional inscriptions include “MARY TODD LINCOLN”, “IN GOD WE TRUST”, “LIBERTY”, “2010”, “16TH” and the years she served as First Lady “1861-1865”.

Mary Todd Lincoln was known to be a very kind and compassionate woman and the reverse of her First Spouse coin shows her doing something that she often did, personally delivering flowers and books to soldiers that were wounded during the Civil War. This reverse design was created by Joel Iskowitz and sculpted by Phebe Hemphill. Reverse inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”, “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, “$10”, “1/2 OZ.” and “.9999 FINE GOLD”.
