The San Francisco Mint wasn’t opened until 1854, so the New Orleans branch mint was tasked with striking an abundance of the California gold. This circulated example has nice “unc” eye appeal from well preserved surfaces with excellent detail and luster. A tough coin in extra fine and better grades.
