The 1 oz Gold Philharmonic coin remains the flagship of the Austrian Philharmonic Series. Introduced in 1989 alongside the 1/4 oz version, it has stood as one of the most enduring and globally traded gold bullion coins. Over the decades, the 1 oz Gold Philharmonic has consistently ranked among the best-selling gold coins worldwide.

Produced by the Austrian Mint, the Vienna Philharmonic bullion coin is highly revered for its exceptional craftsmanship and cultural significance. It celebrates Austria's rich musical legacy through the depiction of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, a global symbol of musical excellence.

The series began in 1989 with the 1 oz and 1/4 oz coins and expanded with the addition of the 1/10 oz and 1/2 oz coins in 1991 and 1994, respectively. Further diversification came with the release of the 1 oz Silver Philharmonic in 2008, the 1/25 oz gold coin in 2014, and the introduction of platinum versions in 2016.

On the obverse of the 2025 1 oz Gold Philharmonic Coin is the iconic Great Pipe Organ, designed by Chief Engraver Thomas Pesendorfer. This celebrated image represents the organ located in the Golden Concert Hall of the Musikverein, home to the world-famous orchestra.

The reverse features a harmonious arrangement of musical instruments, symbolizing the Philharmonic's unity and artistry. At the forefront, two violins flank a cello, while a French horn, harp, and bassoon are positioned in the background, showcasing the range and depth of the orchestra’s sound.
