This kit contains the 2008 Gold American Buffalo PF70 4-coin set with the 2001 Silver Buffalo PF70 coin.
The Gold American Buffalo coin owes its existence to the Presidential $1 Coin Act of 2005. The U.S. Mint began producing the coins in 2006, marking the first time the Mint ever made a 24 karat gold coin (.9999 fine). The design of the coin pays homage to the original and beloved "Buffalo Nickel" designed by James Earle Fraser.
2008 Gold American Buffalo PF70 Set:
In 2008 only, the U.S. Mint produced 4 sizes of the Gold Buffalo, including a $50 face value one-ounce coin, $25 one-half ounce coin, $10 one-quarter ounce coin, and the $5 one-tenth ounce coin.
2001 Silver Buffalo PF70 coin:
The 2001-P American Buffalo Silver Dollar is an ultra-rare Investment Grade silver coin minted by the U.S. Mint. It was minted at the Philadelphia Mint and bears the P mint mark on the reverse. The coin sold out from the Mint in a short period of time and was never minted again.
