Why Invest in 2023 Gold Canadian Maple Leaf Coin?

Since being introduced in 1979, the Gold Canadian Maple Leaf has been a very popular way for those wanting to invest in gold and precious metals. The Gold Canadian Maple Leaf is annually among the best-selling gold coins in the world. With a fineness of .9999, the Gold Maple Leaf coin is one of the few 24 karat gold coins minted in the world. The images of Queen Elizabeth II and the maple leaf along with the Royal Mint’s attention to detail and advanced security measures make the 2021 Gold Canadian Maple Leaf a popular investment and must have for investors and collectors alike.

History of Gold Canadian Maple Leaf Coin:

First issued by the Canadian Government in 1979, the 1 oz. Gold Canadian Maple Leaf is produced by the Royal Canadian Mint. At the time of first issue the only gold bullion coin in the world was the Krugerrand. It was not readily available because of other countries boycotting South Africa because of apartheid.

From 1979-1982 the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf had a fineness of .999 and was only issued as a 1 oz. coin. Beginning in late 1982 the Gold Maple Leaf was produced with a fineness of .9999 or 24 karat gold. At 24 karat gold, the Gold Maple Leaf is one of the purest gold coins in the world.

The Obverse of the Gold Canadian Maple Leaf Coin: The obverse features the classic profile image of Queen Elizabeth II of Canada. The Reverse of the Gold Canadian Maple Leaf Coin: The reverse of the coin depicts the iconic image of the maple leaf representing unity, tolerance, and peace for Canada.

Security Features of the 2023 Gold Canadian Maple Leaf Coin:

The Canadian Maple Leaf has several unique security features that make it a much more difficult coin to counterfeit. In 2013 the Maple Leaf or reverse side of the coin began featuring a smaller textured maple leaf with the year of issue inside the maple leaf. Another security feature, radial lines on both sides of the coin was added in 2015. Both security features and the symbolic maple leaf give the 2022 Canadian Gold Maple Leaf a distinctive look and feel from other gold coins available to investors.
