At United States Gold Bureau, we don’t sell just gold. We also offer silver and the two following platinum coins from the United States and Canada, which are a wonderful addition to any collection.

Platinum American Eagle

The Platinum American Eagle is a young coin—younger even than the Silver American Eagle. The coin was first authorized by Congress in 1996 and minted a year later in 1997. The Platinum American Eagle remains the only official investment-grade platinum coin offered by the United States Government.
The Platinum American Eagle coin is unique because it displays the highest face value ever to appear on a U.S. coin--$100. It also comes in face values of $10, $25, and $50. These coins have weights of 1/10 oz, ¼ oz, ½ oz, and 1 oz, respectively for the increasing face value.

Another feature unique to the American Platinum Eagle is that the design of the reverse of the coin is changed every year. Initially the reverse featured a Bald Eagle along with a rotating landscape from different parts of the United States. However, in 2004 the reverse featured the sculpture “America,” which sits outside the U.S. Customs House in New York City. From 2006 through 2008, the US Mint introduced a three year series titled “The Foundations of Democracy,” which featured designs on the reverse showcasing the three branches of the federal government.

Platinum Canadian Maple Leaf

This coin was first introduced by the Royal Canadian Mint in 1988 and was minted through 2002, before being minted again in 2009.
When the Platinum Canadian Maple Leaf was reintroduced in 2009, it was only produced in the 1 oz. denomination, with a face value of $50. However, from 1988 through 2002, it was also offered in ½ oz ($20), 1/4oz ($10), and 1/10oz ($5). From 1993 through 2002, the Royal Canadian Mint introduced a 1/20oz, or $1, denomination and 1994 was the only year that saw a 1/5oz, or $2, Platinum Canadian Maple Leaf.
