As a group, with a total of only 41,535 coins minted, the 2004 Gold Eagle Proof s rank as the 2nd rarest by total mintage in the entire series of Golf Eagle Proof coins. Continuing the trends established in the preceding years, for the fourth year in a row, the $10, $25, and $50 denominations all saw final mintage tallies of less than 10,000 each. As in the preceding years, the $25 Gold Eagle Proof posted the lowest mintage total with 7,835 total Proof coins minted, which placed it as the 11th rarest among all $25 Gold Eagle Proofs. By total mintage, the $5 and $10 Gold Eagle Proofs ranked as 2nd and 4th most rare within their respective denominations.
NGC Certified Population Summary:
Additionally, through June 26, 2009, a total of only 508 four coin Gold Eagle Proofs sets from 2004 had been certified by NGC in Proof 70 condition.
