As a group, with a total of only 41,535 coins minted, the 2004 Gold Eagle Proofs rank as the rarest by total mintage in the entire series of Golf Eagle Proof coins. Continuing the trends established in the preceding years, for the fourth year in a row, the $10, $25, and $50 denominations all saw final mintage tallies shrink to less than 10,000 each. As in the preceding years, the $25 Gold Eagle Proof posted the lowest mintage total with 7,835 total Proof coins minted, which placed it as the 2nd rarest among all $25 Gold Eagle Proofs.
NGC Certified Population Summary:
Additionally, through June 26, 2009, a total of only 508 four coin Gold Eagle Proofs sets from 2004 had been certified by NGC in Proof 70 condition.
